The total comfort of Mark Sears' rustic chairs is a trademark of his work. The angle of rest for the back is specific, and though the construction material may make the piece seem random in construction, it is anything but. The upholstered seat is supported by ziggur springs which will give restful comfort for years. Upholstery material with various tapestry designs are available.  Chair sizes vary, and we cheerfully refer to them as Papa Bear, Mama Bear and Baby Bear.

Some Notes about Bear Chairs: The Papa Bear is the largest sized of the three and provides a comfortable resting place for anyone wanting a substantial amount of space for relaxation. The Mama Bear is a medium sized chair with the same attributes as a Papa Bear, just moderated for a shorter seat requirement. Baby Bear is for the more petit in size with the seating again somewhat shorter and a lower seating height.   Footstools may be ordered to match the chair. Tapestry style upholstery cloth lends itself well to this style and wears very well under steady use.

Giant Rustic Chess Set The table size is 3' X 3'.  Each chess piece is hand turned individually, detail carved for finish work on the knights, and leather padding is attached to the base of each.

Storage for all chess pieces is provided in a sectioned slide through drawer. When cleared of playing pieces, it can serve well as a central living space table for general use.

Game Tables, Stools and Game Chairs The variety of woods available in the northern forests provide pine, elm, oak and birch for sturdy furniture that is pleasing to the eye.  The Game Table seen at the right, above, has had a white pickling stain applied to the seats and the outer edge wood of the table top.  All checkers in all game tables are of natural walnut alternated with a lighter wood, either oak, elm or maple. Game Chair seats are available also with a back support and moderated arms that give support but do not impede movement when lightening responses are required to finish off an opponent.  At the game, that is.

Beds King, Queen, Double, Single or Bunks. Each piece of rustic furniture is made around the unique features of the natural shape of the wood. If you have seen a type of pattern that you like, a similar replication can be made, but no rustic maker can ever make a rustic piece to be exactly the same as a drawing. At that point the area of rustic definition is lost to that of factory reproduction.

In this Birch Side Chair, a cloth choice of upholstery material with the look of woven wicker provides a finishing touch to an interesting piece.  The pattern is woven into the material, not printed on top, and is of long-lasting durability..

Mark Sears additionally dabbles in his full service cabinet shop, Creations In Wood, located near Redwood, NY.  He designs and produces cabinetry for individual projects as well as antique restoration.   He has built and installed steeples in a castle on the St. Lawrence River and brought into being moths, butterflies, hummingbirds and flowers   from driftwood gathered from the coasts of Oregon and Hawaii.  The construction of three log homes in the past three years has taken up much time, but he has gone back to stalking the elusive Crinkled Birch, a rare specimen of the Northern Bent Birch.
